PathWaysPA: Self Sufficiency Budget Worksheet

The Self-Sufficiency Budget Worksheet: Introduction

This Worksheet helps families find out how well different wages meet their needs. The information used in this Worksheet is from the Self-Sufficiency Standard for Pennsylvania. The Self- Sufficiency Standard for Pennsylvania shows the wages that a family needs, based on the family makeup and location, in order to meet their basic needs without any public or private assistance (such as Food Stamps or shared housing). Because many workers enter the workforce at wages that are below the Self-Sufficiency Standard, the Worksheet gives them information on the kinds of supports available. These supports can help wage earners meet their families’ needs adequately until they reach their “Self-Sufficiency Wage”.

We encourage all to be proactive and persistent in seeking current information, services, and benefits. While every effort has been made to offer accurate, complete, and useful information, PathWaysPA and its employees and contractors assume no legal liability for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information contained herein. All of the contents are offered for informational purposes only. Specific situations and questions will need further assistance and clarification.

Please note, the Budget Worksheet provides an estimate of benefits and services families might be eligible to receive.

Individuals can link to the State of Pennsylvania's COMPASS site using the Budget Worksheet. COMPASS is a screening tool that allows families to see in advance if they might qualify and apply for Cash Assistance (TANF), Food Stamps, Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), LIHEAP and adultBasic all at the same time.
